Dear Hr. Dalzell:
We are evaluating your June 3,
1993 responses to the questions asked in my letter of April 8, 1993.
Your responses helped identify areas where additional information will be'elpful, You clarified that the exemption is intended to include all members of the Local 1245 bargaining unit (whether or not they are actually union members),
said that approximately 140 persons would be subject to the exemption, and said there are approximately 10 non-union workers performing tasks similar to those for which the exemption is requested.
Our question was intended to find out how many persons not included in the exemption request were performing tasks similar to tasks performed by persons who were included in the exemption request.
To help clarify this issue, we request your response to the following:
~
Are these 10 "non-union workers" also included in the Local 1245 bargaining unit (and thus in the exemption request),
or did you intend to mean that these 10 workers are not included in the bargaining unit (and thus not in the exemption request)?
~
If these 10 non-union workers are included in the exemption request, are there any workers who are not included in the exemption request but who are performing tasks similar to those performed by workers who are included in the exemption request?
One of your responses stated that there are persons included in the exemption request whose normal workstations are outside the protected area.
Another response stated that the employees for whom the exemption is being sought rarely, if ever, enter the Power Block.
To help clarify this issue, we request your response to the following:
~
Approximately how many people (included in the exemption request) have their normal workstations outside the protected area?

Tom Dalzell If these people are all clerical, have normal workstations outside the protected
- area, and rarely (if ever) enter areas such as the Power Block what is the basis or rationale for them having unescorted access?
Regarding your question about submitting further information in support of the exemption request, please send in any such material that you wish to submit.
You need not wait for the NRC to ask specific questions.
Sincerely, Or.:gin+i signed by E. Butcher for Frank J.
