Docket Nos. 50-275 and 50-323 Mr. J.

D. Shiffer Senior Vice President Nuclear Power Generation Pacific Gas and Electric Company 77 Beale Street, Room 1451 San Francisco, California 94106

Dear Mr. Shiffer:

SUBJECT:

UNIMPLEMENTED GENERIC SAFETY ISSUES AT DIABLO CANYON NUCLEAR POWER PLANT, UNITS 1

AND 2 On April 25, 1990 the staff issued Generic Letter 90-04 which requested information concerning the implementation status of certain generic safety issues (GSIs) at your facility.

Based on your responses to this Generic Letter dated June 28, 1990, our own records, and discussions with your staff, we have updated our database on GSI implementation status.

The results of this effort were presented to the Commission at a meeting on October 25, 1990.

The enclosures to this letter summarize the staff's understanding of the current status of those GSIs which remain unimplemented at Diablo Canyon.

We appreciate the assistance you provided in responding to Generic Letter 90-04 and we encourage your timely completion of those GSIs listed in the enclosures.

Please contact me if you have any questions or comments about the enclosed information.

Sincerely, gItgn@Se~<
