Darrell G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation BROOKHAVEN REPORT ON ITS INDEPENDENT EVALUATION OF DIABLO CANYON DESIGN VERIFICATION (Board Notification No. 82-67)
In accordance with present NRC procedures for Board Notifications the following is enclosed for information of the Commission:
NRC letter transmitting the following report to Teledyne Engineering Services, "Independent Seismic Evaluation of the Diablo Canyon Unit 1 Containment-Annulzs&teucfum anL5elecf:ed Piping.Systems" a report prepared by Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in June 1982.
'The report presents the results of the independent effort on the subject
'by BNL which was performed at the request of the staff of the Division of Engineering.
The report is provided to Teledyne Engineering Services, the Program Manager for the Independent Design Verification Program (IDVP), with a request that they inform us of their views regarding the validity of the BNL results and of their generic implications.
The information in the enclosure is relevant to the safety issue on the design adequacy of Diablo Canyon Un t l.
This is the subject of Commission Order DLI-81-30, which is the basis for the IDVP
