Dear Mr. Fleischaker:
BBuckley Service List RTedesco This is in response to your May 4, 1982 letter in which you expressed concern that the April 30, 1982 meeting between the staff, Pacific Gas
& Electric Company and Bechtel Power Corporation was not transcribed.
You also stated that the ground rules for meetings concerning the seismic design verification program established in October 1981, provide for a verbatim transcript.
More-over, you stated that your decision to attend such meetings relied, in part, on your understanding that verbatim transcripts would be forwarded to you for your information.
Based on a review of the October 9, 1981 meeting transcript, we could not identif/',y where such ag arrangement was made requiring verbatim transcripts of all meetings concering the seismic design verification program.
- However, it was agreed that all parties in this proceeding would be notified of such meetings.
The decision to transcribe a meeting will be at the staff's discretion depending on the nature of the meeting.
The purpose of the April 30, 1982 meeting was to describe the role Bechtel would assume in the completion of work required to bring both Diablo Canyon units into commercial operation and its relationship with the independent reviewer.
As such, it is not directly a part of the verification program.
A summary of the April 30 meeting has been prepared and a copy is attached for your information.
In the future, we will notify all parties in this proceeding whether future meetings will be transcribed.
Sincerely, orlgfnnl $lgned by II IL Denton
