Special Report: Inoperable Drvwell Pressure Monitor/Suppression Chamber Water Level Instrumentation In accordance with Action 4.a of Nine Mile Point Unit 1 (NMP1) Technical Specifications (TS)
Table 3.6.11-2, "Accident Monitoring Instrumentation Action Statements," and TS Section 6.6.6.h, "Special Reports," Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC (NMPNS) is submitting the following Special Report concerning inoperability of Channel #11 Drywell Pressure/Torus Level Chart Recorder.
Description of Event On October 31st, 2016 at 1940, Pl-201.2-484A, (Channel 11 Drywell Pressure Monitor) was made inoperable to facilitate replacement of Channel #11 P/LR-201.2-594D (Chart Recorder for Torus Level and Drywell Pressure). The chart recorder was being replaced due to recorder obsolescence, and to improve monitoring capabilities.
The redundant Drywell Pressure Monitor for Channel #12 was operable during the period the Channel #11 Monitor was inoperable.
Cause of lnoperability The cause of the inoperability was that replacement of the recorder required breaking of a current loop, which secures power to Pl-201.2-484A, Channel 11 Drywell Pressure Monitor (-5 to 250 psig) making it inoperable.
Action Taken Following replacement of P/L-201.2-594D, Ch. 11 Drywell/Torus Level chart recorder, the current loop was reconnected to Pl-201.2-484A Channel 11 Drywell Pressure Monitor. Pl-201.2-484A was returned to operable at 1601 on November 1 51 upon verification that all computer points returned to pre-maintenance values.
