Relocation of the AGN-201M fuel and special nuclear material from the AGN site (License R-23) to the TEES Nuclear Science Center site (License R-83)

Boyle, Project Manager, Research and Test Reactors Branch Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation The purpose of this letter is to notify the Nuclear Regulatory Commission that all fuel and special nuclear material (SNM) associated with the Texas A&M University (TAMU) AGN-201M reactor have been relocated. Between September 30, 2016 and October 3, 2016 the fuel and SNM were removed from the AGN-201M system, packaged for transport, and relocated to the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) Nuclear Science Center (NSC). This work was completed and documented under an approved quality assurance program (ADAMS Accession No. ML16270A025).
The fuel and SNM were removed from the AGN-201M site operated under Facility Operating License R-23, Docket 50-59. The materials were transported to the TEES NSC site operated under Facility Operating License R-83, Docket 50-128 as enabled by the recent amendment to the NSC license and technical specifications (ADAMS Accession No. ML16109A153). The materials were formally accepted and placed in their licensed storage condition and all fuel and SNM relocation is complete.
The fuel and SNM are now stored under the provisions of the NSC license (R-83).
