DEFICIENCY IN CABLING ASSOCIATED WITH BAILEY RECORDERS Enclosed is a followup to the LER from Duke Power Company related to the December 14, 1978 incident at Oconee Unit 1, involving reactor trip, feedwater transient and ES actuation, initiated by an electrical fault in the cabling to a non-safety related recorder. B&W (the Oconee NSSS vendor) has advised Duke of their concern as to the generic implications of these cable deficiencies and also recommended replacement. B&W further recommendedsome operational limitation in-the interim and procedures to be used during replacement. Duke has replaced all cables involved.
We understand that this event and subsequent actions are, at present, being followed-up by Region II. Thought you might be interested.
