- Frank, As we talked, the staff is trying to better understand the configuration of the plant in order to review your request. To do that, the staff has the following need for clarification.

Background===
In Table 1, Section 1 of the relief request, the licensee identified the affected component as weld number, RCT0001INCORENOZZLES, and Reactor Vessel lower head incore penetrations (52). The footnote to Table 1 states that RCT0001INCORENOZZLES includes both the J-groove weld and the nozzle-to-adapter weld.
It appears that the affected component is the nozzle-to-adapter weld. However, some parts of the relief request referenced a weld and other parts of the relief request mentioned welds.
Questions 1.How many nozzle-to-adapter weld(s) are there at the bottom of the reactor vessel that are connected to the bottom mounted instrumentation penetration?
2.If more than one nozzle-to-adapter weld exists, does this mean that a single weld number RCT0001INCORENOZZLES represents/applies to multiple nozzle-to-adapter welds?
- 3. How many nozzle-to-adapter weld(s) will be covered under the relief request?
- 4. What does (52) in Table 1 mean?
