SUBJECT:

IMPLEMENTATION STATUS OF GENERIC SAFETY ISSUES AT OCONEE, MCGUIRE, AND CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATIONS

Dear Mr. Tuckman:

On April 25, 1990, the staff issued Generic Letter 90-04 which requested information concerning the implementation status of certain generic safety issues (GSIs) at your facilities. Based on your response to GL 90-04 dated June 29, 1990, our own records, and discussions with your staff, we have updated our database on GSI implementation status.

The results of this effort were presented to the Commission on October 25, 1990.

The three enclosures to this letter summarize the staff's understanding of the current status of those GSIs that remain unimplemented at each of the Duke facilities. We appreciate the assistance you have provided in responding to the Generic Letter and encourage your timely completion of those GSIs identified in the three enclosures.

Please contact either myself or the respective Project Manager should you have any questions or comments concerning the enclosed information.

Sincerely, David B. Matthews, Director Project Directorate 1
