SUMMARY
OF MEETING BETWEEN THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION AND DUKE POWER REPRESENTATIVES TO DISCUSS THE OCONEE LICENSE RENEWAL TECHNICAL INFORMATION REPORT, OLRP-1001 On August 14, 1996, the NRC staff met with representatives of the Duke Power Company to discuss their License Renewal Technical Information Report (OLRP-1001) for Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1, 2, and 3 (ONS 1, 2 & 3).
Duke representatives discussed the philosophy behind OLRP-1001 and how they intend to send sections of the report for the staff's review under a staggered submission schedule that would ultimately result in final staff approval for the entire report by January 1998. Duke stated that the completed OLRP-1001 would represent the technical information required by the license renewal rule (10 CFR Part 54) for ONS 1, 2 & 3. Duke further stated that the NRC staff's safety evaluation on OLRP-1001 would provide them with an understanding of the scope of additional applicant actions that would be required to meet 10 CFR Part 54, and therefore better prepare Duke management regarding a decision to submit a license renewal application. Duke briefly described their first submittal of OLRP-1001, the Reactor Building Report and Time Limited Aging Analyses identification.
The NRC staff stated that it had not yet assigned technical review resources for the first OLRP-1001 technical report submittal and expressed that their requested review schedule appeared very ambitious. The staff stated that it would get back to Duke by letter concerning the schedule it could support for the review of OLRP-1001.
