NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION REPORT FOR THE AUDIT OF DUKE ENERGY CAROLINAS LLC'S FLOOD HAZARD REEVALUATION REPORT SUBMITTAL RELATED TO THE NEAR-TERM TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATION 2.1-FLOODING FOR: CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2 (CAC NOS. MF3625 AND MF3626)
Dear Mr. Henderson:
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the final audit report, which summarizes and documents the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission's (NRC) regulatory audit of Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC's (Duke, the licensee) Flood Hazard Reevaluation Report (FHRR) submittal related to the Near-Term Task Force Recommendation 2.1-Flooding for Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2 (Catawba). By letter dated June 8, 2015 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML15155A631 ), the NRC informed you of the staff's plan to conduct a regulatory audit of Duke's FHRR submittal for Catawba. The audit was intended to support the NRC staff review of the licensee's FHRR and the subsequent issuance of an interim hazard letter and staff assessment documenting the staff's review. The audit(s) was conducted over multiple sessions from August 2015 to September 2015 and was performed consistent with NRC Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, Office Instruction LIC-111, "Regulatory Audits," dated December 29, 2008 (ADAMS Accession No. ML082900195). The details of this audit report have been discussed with Mr. Cecil Fletcher of your staff.
The Enclosure transmitted herewith contains Security-Related Information. When separated from the Enclosure, this document is decontrolled.
