Dear Staff:
In order to clarify our requested wording for our proposed license condition 2D, the amount of source material we are requesting is 1 mCi, with the proposed wording to be:
D. Pursuant to the Act and Title 10 CFR, Chapter 1, Part 40, "Domestic Licensing of Source Material," in* connection with the operation of the facility, to receive, possess, and use, up to 1 millicurie of source material for reactor-based.
experiments, sources for calibration of detectors, and reference sources for use in reactor-based analytical techniques.
In our letter dated March 14, 2014, we made a commitment to revise our Radiation Protection Plan so that it included a requirement for sealed source leak testing (proposed section 8.3.4) and a requirement for 6-month material inventories (proposed section 8.3.5). Those proposed requirements (sections 8.3.4 and 8.3.5) were approved by the USGS Reactor Operations Committee in their April 2015 meeting and were incorporated into our Radiation Protection Program at that time.
Sincerely,
~U..07 Tim DeBey USGS Reactor Supervisor I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.
