FACILITY: Salem Nuclear Generating Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (Salem)

Hope Creek Generating Station (Hope Creek)

SUBJECT:

Summary of Annual Assessment Meeting with PSEG On March 30, 2016, at 5:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted an open house at the PSEG Energy & Environmental Resource Center in Salem, NJ. The NRC conducted the open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Salem and Hope Creek for 2015.

A notice of the open house was issued on March 8, 2016, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML16068A369.

ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The NRC presented information on poster boards and was available to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Salem and Hope Creek for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2015, as documented in our letters dated March 2, 2016, ADAMS Accession No. ML16060A092 and ML16055A328. The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRCs Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Salem and Hope Creek can be found on the NRCs website at: www.nrc.gov/nrr/oversight/assess/index.html.

A member of the media along with several State and local officials attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Salems and Hope Creeks performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. The list of attendees is attached (ML16096A041).
