Dear Sir or Madam:
On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Reference 1ito all power reactor licensees and holders of construction permits in active or deferred status. Enclosure 1 of Reference 1 requested that each addressee located in the Western United States submit a Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Screening Report with in 3 years from the date of Reference 1.
Reference 2 contained the industry guidance and detailed information to be included in the Seismic Hazard Evaluation and Screening Report submittals. NRC endorsed this industry guidance in Reference 3; and in Reference 4 Energy Northwest provided the Seismic Screening and Screening Report for the Columbia Station.
In Reference 5, the NRC reviewed the information provided in Reference 4 and stated that an Expedited Approach Report for the Columbia Station should be submitted by January 31, 2016. The enclosure to this letter contains the Expedited Seismic Evaluation Process (ESEP) Report for the Columbia Generating Station.
No new commitments are identified in this letter.
