SUMMARY

Requalification retake examinations were conducted on January 8, 1991, for individuals who failed the requalification examination given in July of 1990.

There was no program evaluation made due to the small sample size.

Simulator examinations were administered to five Senior Reactor Operators (SROs) and one (RO). All individuals passed the examinations.

Exit Meeting:

At the conclusion of the site visit, the examiners met with representatives of the plant staff to discuss the results of the examinations. The examiners made the following observations concerning your training program:

a.

During the conduct of the simulator examinations, the Unit Supervisor would operate controls and acknowledge alarms without.

informing the operator responsible for the panel.

b.

Facility has yet to expand on the minimum number of 15 simulator scenarios.

The licensee did not identify as proprietary any material provided to or reviewed by the examiners.

January 8, 1991 This form is to be used only to report observations. These observations do not constitute audit or inspection findings and are not, without further verification and review, indicative of noncompliance with 10 CFR 55.45(b).

These observations do not affect NRC certification or approval of the simulation facility other than to provide information which may be used in future evaluations. No licensee action is required in response to these observations.

During the conduct of the simulator portion of the operating tests, the following items were observed ITEM DESCRIPTION Computer Leak In the interest of time, a phone call was used to give Rate a leak rate calculation from the computer in five minutes when the actual calculation would take an hour. This.was negative training in that some operators seemed to be expecting this information in a relatively short time period and delayed taking further action.
