Williams, Clay and Lesan, Re: Oconee proceedings Docket Nos 50-269/270/287-LR The Office of the Secretary has received your message requesting an enlargement of time for the purpose of retaining counsel. I believe your message is in response to the deadlines indicated in the Memorandum and order of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board issued on September 18, 1998. At this point in the proceeding requests of this nature should be directed to the established Licensing Board with service on each Board member, parties to the proceeding and the Rulemakings and Adjudications Staff of the Office of the Secretary.
Your message did not indicate that service was made as required by the September 18, 1998 order.
Thus, in the interest of time. I am forwarding your message to the Licensing Board Members for the Oconee license renewal proceeding, as well as others on whom service is required, such as licensee's attorneys, NRC staff counsel and the Office of Commission Appellate Adjudication. Please make sure that future pleadings are served on the board and parties whether by e-mail, regular mail or express mail.

Pursuant to our petition to intervene in the proceedings regarding the application of Duke Energy Corporation to renew the operating license for Units 1, 2 and 3 of the Oconee Nuclear Station (Docket Nos. 50-269, 50-270 and 50-287), the Chattooga River Watershed Coalition, Norman "Buzz" Williams, William "Butch" Clay and W.S. Lesan hereby request consideration of a motion to e-'arge the time required to submit an amended petition to intervene. We make this request in order to find and retain counsel, so that we may adequately meet the requirements of 10 C.F.R. 2.714 (a)(2) and other applicable laws. Due to unavoidable circumstances, we request an extension of 30 days.
