Attachment to GNRO-2015/00042 Response to Teleconference Concern

Attachment to GNRO-2015/00042 Page 1 of 1 Concern:

Four of the 5 Allowable Values included in the License Amendment Request (LAR) calculations left out the 1.645/2 term. The concern is that, while conservative, this is a deviation from the General Electric (GE) setpoint methodology described in NEDC-31336P-A, 'General Electric Instrument Setpoint Methodology'.

Response

The term 1.645/2 was deliberately not included in the calculations for 4 of the 5 Allowable Values (AV) (resulting in a more conservative value) since the setpoints were double-bounded.

The one single-bounded AV included the term due to it being single bounded. Grand Gulf Nuclear Station's calculations are performed in accordance with JS09, 'Methodology for the Generalization of Instrument Loop Uncertainty and Setpoint Calculations', which allows the inclusion of the 1.645/2 term for cases with limited margin. Upon receipt of the license amendment, Grand Gulf Nuclear Station will revise the 4 calculations to include the new AVs and an explanation regarding non-inclusion of the 1.645/2 term in the double-bounded cases.
