Draft Oconee EA for Your Review Hi Shelly,

As we discussed in our phone conversation earlier, I am forwarding you the draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for the exemption request for the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) at Oconee Nuclear Station. As part of its review of the exemption request, the NRC staff has prepared the attached draft EA and draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI), in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA), and NRCs NEPA implementing regulations in 10 CFR Part 51. We conclude in the EA that the proposed action will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment. We are requesting that you review our draft EA and comment on environmental issues prior to public issuance of the EA.

Please let me know if you can support the exemption, or if you would like to provide comments, based on this email.

Thank you for your consideration.

Regards, John A. Vera, Ph.D.
