On March 12, 2012, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Reference 1 to all power reactor licensees and holders of construction permits in active or deferred status. Enclosure 2 of Reference I requested that each licensee perform a reevaluation of external flooding sources and report the results in accordance with the NRC's prioritization plan. UPON SEPARATION FROM ENCLOSURE 1, THIS COVER LETTER IS DECONTROLLED.
SECURITY-RELATED INFORMATION - WITHHOLD UNDER 10 CFR 2.390 NLS2015006 Page 2 of 3 hazard reevaluation (FHR) report for Cooper Nuclear Station (CNS) to 10 months after receipt of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' portion of the CNS FHR report. The NRC approved NPPD's extension request in Reference 3 to February 4, 2015.
NPPD's FHR report for CNS is provided as Enclosure 1. Interim actions, as discussed in Reference 4 and Section 4 of the FHR report, have been developed to address the higher flood hazard. In accordance with Reference 1, an integrated assessment is required if flood levels determined during the hazard reevaluation are not bounded by the current licensing basis flood levels. Reference I also specifies that the integrated assessment must be completed and a report submitted within two years of submitting the FHR report. Therefore, NPPD will submit an integrated assessment report for CNS prior to February 4, 2017.
NPPD requests Enclosure 1, which contains security-related information, be withheld from public disclosure in accordance with 10 CFR 2.390. A redacted version of the FHR report is provided as Enclosure 2 and is suitable for public disclosure.
