SUBJECT: SCHEDULING OF INITIAL OPERATOR LICENSE EXAMINATIONS,
DRESDEN NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3
Dear Mr. Hanson:
We have received your corporate letter RS-14-164, dated May 29, 2014, in response to
U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Regulatory Issue Summary 2014-05, Preparation
and Scheduling of Operator Licensing Examinations. In the letter, you requested an initial
operator licensing examinations be scheduled for August 2016, August 2017, and March 2019
at the Dresden Nuclear Power Station. Some of these dates have changed from your corporate
letter RS-13-183, dated July 8, 2013, and our NRC Response letter dated January 27, 2014.
In response, we have scheduled initial operator licensing examinations for the weeks of:
August 8, 2016, with an onsite validation date of July 11, 2016.
August 21 and 28, 2017, with an onsite validation date of July 24, 2017.
March 25, 2019, with an onsite validation date of February 25, 2019.
In the unlikely event that we are unable to support the examination during the scheduled weeks,
we will inform you immediately, upon discovery, of such conditions and make arrangements to
administer the examination at a mutually acceptable date.
We understand that your staff will develop the examinations unless we determine it is necessary
for the NRC to develop an examination in which case, we will notify you immediately. Because
your letter indicated that there were more than nine applicants being considered for each of
these examinations, the examinations have been individually scheduled for two weeks. Please
inform us if the number of candidates change for any examination as this will impact the
examination schedule. Also, please inform us at your earliest opportunity if you discover you
need to change the scheduled dates for the examinations.
A supplementary letter will be sent to the training department approximately 120 days prior to
the examination informing the training manager of the chief examiners name. The letter will
also outline examination security expectations, list the materials required by the NRC to conduct
the examination, and reconfirm the examination date, and number of candidates you have in the
Training Program.
