NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR CALLAWAY PLANT, UNIT 1
Dear Chief Friend:
Please find enclosed a copy of the final NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 51, Callaway Plant, Unit 1.
The final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is being issued as part of the Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) process to decide whether to issue a renewed operating license to Union Electric Company, a subsidiary of Ameren Corporation and doing business as Ameren Missouri, for Callaway Plant, Unit 1 (Callaway). In the final SEIS, the NRC staff determined that the adverse environmental impacts of renewed licenses for Callaway are not great enough to deny this option for energy planning decision-makers. In the context of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, NRC staff determined that no historic properties will be affected by the proposed action (license renewal). The final environmental impact statement will accompany the final Safety Evaluation Report to be considered in the Commission's license renewal decision making process.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Russell Chazell, at 301-415-5003 or by e-mail at Russell.Chazell@nrc.gov.
Sincerely,
/RA/
