Comments to Byron 2014 Exam Outline Submittal

1. Scenario 14-2, Event 6 and Scenario 14-3, Event 5 are similar. What are the differences such that Crew D does not see the same event?

RE: Event 6 in Scenario 14-2 results in PORV sticking open, this will result in depressurization of RCS and will require a scram and SI actuation and entry into E-0.

Event 5 in Scenario 14-3 will result in PORV actuation but operators will be able to stop the depressurization. No AOP will be entered. EOPs will NOT be entered. The operators response to these two events are significantly different to allow both events to remain as is.

2. Since System JPM a., Letdown Orifice Operation, was used in a previous NRC exam, is it also considered direct from bank? Need D in Type Code column for SRO and RO Forms ES 301-2.

RE: Author considered Type Code P and D to be independent of each other.

Either way, the number of JPMs with type code D does not exceed the allowed criteria. Type code D will not be included.

3. On Form ES 301-1, SRO Admin JPM for Equipment Control, is this a duplicate from Byron Exam 2012?

RE: Author is aware of this fact and will pick a different LCOAR that was used in the 2012 exam.

4. On Form ES 301-1, SRO Admin JPM for Emergency Procedures, is this a duplicate from Byron Exam 2012? Wont be considered a duplicate JPM so long as it is not an EP declaration for a LOCA.

RE: Author is aware of this fact and will pick a different EP Declaration that was used in the 2012 exam.
