UNITED STATES NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION WASHINGTON, D.C. 20555-0001 September 12, 2014 Mr. George Blanchard, Governor Absentee Shawnee Tribe of Oklahoma 2025 South Gordon Cooper Drive Shawnee, OK 74801
SUBJECT:
NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY OF THE FINAL SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR LIMERICK GENERATING STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2
Dear Governor Blanchard:
Please find enclosed a copy of the final NUREG-1437, Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants, Supplement 49, Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2. The final Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) is being issued as part of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) process to decide whether to issue renewed operating licenses to Exelon Generating Company, LLC for Limerick Generating Station, Units 1 and 2 (LGS). In the final SEIS, the NRC staff determined that the adverse environmental impacts of renewed licenses for LGS are not great enough to deny this option for energy planning decisionmakers. In the context of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, NRC staff determined that no historic properties will be affected by the proposed action (license renewal). The final environmental impact statement, will accompany the final Safety Evaluation Report to be considered in the Commission's license renewal decision making process.
If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Emily Larson, Social Scientist, at 301-415-1151 or by e-mail at Emily.Larson@nrc.gov.
Sincerely,
/RA/
