In a letter dated April 10, 1989, the Carolina Power & Light Company requested approval of the use of Code Case N-356, "Certification Period for Level III NDE Personnel," for inclusion in the Section XI ISI Programs at Brunswick Steam Electric Plant, Units 1 and 2, H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit No. 2, and Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant, Unit 1. Code Case N-356 permits extending the certification of Level III NDE Personnel from three to five years.

The NRC staff has recently reviewed Code Case N-356 and approved its use in the Section XI ISI Program at the Hope Creek and Salem, Unit 1 and 2, Generating Station (letter from the staff to Public Service Electric and Gas Company dated May 17, 1989). Therefore, Code Case N-356 may be included in the Section XI ISI Program at the subject facilities as requested.
