ADVANCED INFORMATION TO SUPPORT NRC REGION II ASSESSMENT OF CP&L'S ALARA PROGRAM (CORPORATE, BRUNSWICK AND ROBINSON)

This letter is in reference to a telephone conversation at 2:00 p.m. on August 15, 1988, between Paul Fredrickson and Roger Shortridge, NRC and CP&L representatives from Harris Energy and Environmental

Center, Brunswick and Robinson Nuclear Plants. We informed you that during the week of September 12,

1988, an assessment team of 3 to 4 inspectors will be at Robinson to review your ALARA program. A second program review will be conducted at Brunswick the week of September 19, 1988, with one team member visiting the corporate office.

The scope of the assessment will cover all ALARA Program aspects for the years of 1983 through 1987.

In order to become better prepared to review the elements of your program, we request you make available to our inspection team, copies of information on the enclosed list, for corporate, Robinson and Brunswick as indicted (for 1983-1987).

We would appreciate it if this information were available at the sites by August 29, 1988.
