COMPLETION OF LICENSING ACTION FOR GENERIC LETTER 96-06, EVALUATION OF H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2, RESOLUTION OF THERMALLY INDUCED PRESSURIZATION OF CONTAINMENT PENETRATION PIPING RUNS (TAC NO. M96859)
Dear Mr. Young:
This is in reference to your submittals dated January 28, 1997, and February 19, 1999, in response to the Generic Letter 96-06, "Assurance of Equipment Operability and Containment Integrity During Design Basis Accident Conditions."
The NRC staff has determined that your submittals are acceptable for the resolution of the issue of thermally induced pressurization of piping runs penetrating the containment. However, in your submittal you had also requested a delay in responding to the request relating to the water hammer issue due to delay on status of effort by EPRI/NEI of the generic technical basis which is pending with the NRC. This is to acknowledge your above request for an additional 180 days from the date of NRC approval of the generic technical basis.
