REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FOR THE H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2, CONCERNING MAIN STEAM SAFETY VALVE TESTING (TAC NO. M94613)
Dear Mr. Hinnant:
On January 29, 1996, you submitted an amendment request regarding main steam safety valve (MSSV) testing for the H. B. Robinson Steam Electric Plant, Unit No. 2. As a result of our review, we have determined a need for the following request for additional information (RAI).
- 1.
You did not indicate in the submittal that all events were considered in the assessment. Confirm that all events, Section 5.2.2 - Overpressure Protection and Chapter 15 - Accident Analyses, were considered.
- 2.
Specifically, identify which events were verified through evaluation and which were reanalyzed, and justify each method of verification.
- 3.
Outline the criteria used in each verification, whether by evaluation or reanalysis.
- 4.
Describe how you ensure that the +/-3% drift in the MSSV setpoint will not affect the MSSV's ablility to prevent the maximum steam generator design pressure from being compromised.
Your written response to the RAI is expected within 30 days of the receipt of this letter.
