SUBJECT:

REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING A REQUEST FOR EXEMPTION FROM APPENDIX R, SECTION III.J, FOR THE H. B. ROBINSON STEAM ELECTRIC PLANT, UNIT NO. 2 (TAC NO.M91619)

Dear Mr. Hinnant:

By letter dated February 2, 1995, you requested an exemption from the requirements of 10 CFR 50, Appendix R, Section III.J. The requested exemption would allow the use of dedicated portable lighting for the operation of safe shutdown equipment, and access and egress thereto, in outdoor areas within the protected area that are not presently equipped with 8-hour emergency lighting.

We have reviewed the submittal and find that additional information is needed to enable us to complete our review. Please supplement your submittal with a description of the specific areas in which the exemption would apply.

We request that the response be provided within sixty (60) days of receipt of this letter.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.

If you have any questions, please contact me at (301) 415-2020 Sincerely, (Original Signed By)
