SUMMARY
OF PUBLIC MEETING On May 7, 2014 at 5:00 p.m., the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) conducted a public open house at the Limerick Township Municipal Building in Limerick, PA. The NRC conducted the Annual Assessment Meeting open house to discuss its assessment of the safety performance at Limerick Generating Station for 2013.
A public meeting notice was issued on March 12, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML14071A578. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC displayed poster boards, provided handouts, and met with members of the public to discuss its assessment of the safety performance of Limerick Units 1 and 2 for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2013, as documented in our letter dated March, 4, 2013 (ADAMS Accession No. ML14058A437). The NRC poster boards presented included background on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP). Additional information relative to the NRC's Annual Assessment Process and the safety performance of Limerick Units 1 and 2 can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Members of the public and Exelon officials attended the open house and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Limericks performance and the role of the agency for ensuring safe plant operations.
