SUBJECT:
RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND NRC INSPECTION REPORT
Dear Mr. Cortopassi:
On April 3, 2014 the NRC cited Omaha Public Power Districts failure to provide the NRC
documentation which contained information that was complete and accurate in all material
respects in accordance with 10 CFR 50.9(a), Completeness and Accuracy of Information.
Specifically, on October 13, 2008, Omaha Public Power District submitted a letter to the NRC
which stated that the pyrocrete enclosure remained in place to protect the cables associated
with raw water Pumps AC-10A and AC-10B from a fire in the intake structure. When in fact, the
motor lead cables associated with raw water Pump AC-10A were not protected by the pyrocrete
enclosure.
The Notice of Violation, enclosed with Inspection Report 05000285/2013013 (ML14094A052),
required you to respond in writing within 30 days. You responded by letter dated May 2, 2014
(ML14125A096).
After reviewing the information you provided in your response to the Notice of Violation, we
noted that you have completed corrective actions to address the regulatory noncompliance
described in the Notice of Violation. We will review your implementation of these corrective
actions during a future inspection to determine whether full compliance has been restored and
whether compliance will be maintained.
