By reference letter dated February 11, 2014, the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted a relief request for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant (BFN), Units 1, 2, and 3, for certain full penetration welds included in the BFN intergranular stress corrosion cracking (IGSCC) Augmented Inspection Program. Relief had been requested for the BFN, Units 1, 2, and 3, Ten-Year Inspection Intervals, which began June 2, 2008, May 25, 2011, and November 19, 2005, respectively.
A conference call was held between TVA and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff on March 25, 2014. As a result of that discussion, TVA has decided to withdraw relief request ISI-44. TVA will pursue corrective actions through alternate means.
