OUTREACH TO THE PEOPLE OF THE CATAWBA INDIAN NATION
Dear Chief Harris:
On April 24, 2014, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) will conduct a public meeting to discuss the performance of the Catawba Nuclear Station over the past year. Since some lands of the Catawba Indian Nation lay within the boundary of the 10-mile plume exposure Emergency Pathway Zone of the Catawba Nuclear Station, I wish to extend an invitation to you and other members of your tribe to attend the meeting. Afterwards, members of the NRC staff will be available to answer any questions that you or members of the public might have.
The meeting will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on April 24, 2014, at Rock Hill City Hall located at 155 Johnston St, Rock Hill, SC 29730.
In addition, I would like to extend to you and other members of your tribal government an offer for my staff and I to meet with you before the public meeting and discuss the NRCs work to protect public safety and the environment and to hear your views or concerns regarding our oversight of the Catawba Nuclear Station.
