RESPONSE TO NOTICE OF VIOLATION AND NRC CONFIRMATORY ACTION
LETTER RESPONSE INSPECTION REPORT 05000361/2012009 &
Dear Mr. Palmisano:
On December 23, 2013, the NRC provided the final significance determination of the preliminary
White finding discussed in our previous communication dated September 20, 2013, which
included a cited violation for Southern California Edison Companys failure to verify the
adequacy of the thermal-hydraulic and flow-induced vibration design of the Unit 3 replacement
steam generators. The December 23, 2013, letter also included the associated Notice of
Violation which required you to respond in writing within 30 days. You responded by letter
dated January 22, 2014 (ML14024A390).
The NRC has reviewed the information you provided in your response to the Notice of Violation.
The NRC will inform you via future correspondence if further inspection is warranted.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.390 of the NRC's "Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter will be
made available electronically for public inspection in the NRC Public Document Room or from
the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS), accessible from the
NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
