- Not Applicable At approximately 1319 EST on January 8, 2014, one live sturgeon was recovered and removed from the Circulation Water System (CWS) intake trash racks at the Salem Generating Station.
The sturgeon was confirmed by a site biological expert to be an Atlantic sturgeon which is an "endangered" species. Atlantic and short nose sturgeons are federally listed as "endangered" species under the endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. Nuclear Environmental Affairs has made a determination that this is a 4 hour4.62963e-5 days <br />0.00111 hours <br />6.613757e-6 weeks <br />1.522e-6 months <br /> report to the NRC under RAL 11.8.2.a.
A report was made to the National Marine Fisheries at 1335 EST and the NJDEP Division of Fish
& Wildlife at 1337 EST, concerning the Atlantic sturgeon by Envorimental Licensing.
Thje licensee notified the NRC Resident Inspector and the Lower Alloways Creek Township.
Notified the RIDO (Schmidt) and Endangered species branch via email.
