SUBJECT:

RIVER BEND STATION, UNIT 1 -CORRECTION TO INTERIM STAFF EVALUATION AND REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING OVERALL INTEGRATED PLAN FOR RELIABLE SPENT FUEL POOL INSTRUMENTATION (ORDER NUMBER EA-12-051) (TAC NO. MF0953)

Dear Sir or Madam:

By letter dated November 25, 2013 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession NO'. ML13316C065), the U.S. NuclearRegulatory Commission (NRC) issued interim staff evaluation and request for additional information regarding the overall integrated plan for implementation of Order EA-12-051, "Order Modifying Licenses with Regard to Reliable Spent Fuel Pool Instrumentation" (ADAMS Accession No. ML12054A679). The letter stated, in part, that The.interim staff evaluation also includes RAis, response to which the NRC staff needs to complete its review. The licensee should provide the information requested in the 6-month status updates, as the information becomes available.

However, the staff requests that all information be provided by September 30, 2015, to ensure that any issues are resolved prior to the date by which the licensee must complete full implementation of Order EA-12-0?1. The licensee should adjust its schedule for providing information to ensure that all this information is provided by the requested date.

The NRC staff recently noticed that date by which licensee was requested to provide all the information was erroneously stated as September 30, 2015, in place of September 30, 2014.

The above statement is being revised to correct the date as follows:

The interim staff evaluation also includes RAis, response to which the NRC staff needs to complete its review. The licensee should provide the information requested in the 6-month status updates, as the information becomes available.

However, the staff requests that all information be provided by September 30, 2014, to ensure that any issues are resolved prior to the date by which the licensee must complete full implementation of Order EA-12-051. The licensee should adjust its schedule for providing information to ensure that all this information is provided by the requested date.

Mr. Barry Burmeister of your organization was verbally informed about the error on December 9, 2013.

If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact me at 301-415-1445 or via e-mail at Alan.Wang@nrc.gov.

Sincerely,

~w~
