SUBJECT:
QUALITY ASSURANCE PROGRAM DESCRIPTION FOR SAN ONOFRE UNITS 1, 2 and 3 By letter dated June 9, 1983, (K. P. Baskin to J. B. Martin) the Southern California Edison Company (SCE) submitted topical report, SCE-1-A, "Quality Assurance Program," Amendment 6, dated April 1983, as the current Quality Assurance Program description for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 1, 2 and 3. This submittal was made in accordance with the requirements of 10 CFR 50.54(a).
The program previously approved by the NRC was topical report SCE-1-A, "Quality Assurance Program", Amendment 5. This program was approved by our letter dated March 29, 1982 and was applicable to Units 2 and 3.
Based on our evaluation of the changes implemented by Amendment 6, we find that the revised topical report continues to meet the criteria of Appendix B to 10 CFR Part 50 and is therefore acceptable for Units 2 and 3. We have also reviewed the differences between the Unit 1 Quality Assurance Program (Appendix D of the FSAR) and SCE-1-A, Amendment 6 and find that the differences are not significant. Therefore, because SCE-1-A, Amendment 6 satisfies the criteria of Appendix B to 10 CFR 50, we find it is also acceptable for use at Unit 1.
