Site Specific Earthquake Program Reference (1) forwarded, as an enclosure, a description of additional studies undertaken by SCE to resolve Regulatory Staff and Regulatory Staff consultant comments on the final report concerning the subject program which was submitted by Reference (2).
Preliminary results of what was identified as task 1, "MESH SIZE", were first presented to and discussed with representatives of the Regulatory Staff and their consultants during a meeting on October 6, 1978.
Additional results representing what we consider to be adequate resolution of task 1 were discussed with representatives of the Regulatory Staff in a telephone conversation on January 30, 1979.
Forwarded as an enclosure to this letter is a document entitled "Progress Report Regarding NRC Concerns with Earthquake Ground Motion Simulations for San Onofre, Unit 1", dated February 28, 1979.
This report describes the studies and the results of those studies previously identified as task 1, "MESH SIZE" which have been recently discussed with represen tatives of the Regulatory Staff.
In addition, the enclosed report presents, in section 3, an analysis of the correctness of Figures A-l and A-2 of Appendix A of the report forwarded by Reference (2).

0-2-0 The enclosed report is being forwarded to the NRC at this time to facilitate Regulatory Staff review of the results of addi tional studies described in the enclosure to Reference (1).
Representatives of SCE and their consultant will be prepared to meet with representatives of the Regulatory Staff and their con sultants, to discuss the final results of all studies described in the enclosure to Reference (1) during the week of April 9-13, 1979.
Following such a meeting, a report describing the results of the additional studies will be formally submitted.
If you have any questions concerning the above, please let me know. We will contact your San Onofre Unit 1 project manager to schedule the time and place for the above-identified meeting.
