Docket No. 50-206 Recertification of Charging Pump Motor Rating San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated December 29, 1988, the report for the recertification of the charging pump motors and the justification for continued operation for the rewound charging pump motor were provided to you. Also included with that letter as an Enclosure 3 was the results of the confirmatory load tests required by License Condition 3.L(5). The letter incorrectly indicates that the confirmatory load test information would be provided by January 6, 1989.
The reason for this confusion is that the letter you received dated December 29, 1988 was an earlier version which would have been sent in the event the evaluation of the confirmatory load tests had not been completed.
The confirmatory load tests were in fact completed and the results which indicated that the loads assumed for the pumps in the diesel generator loading calculation are appropriate was provided as Enclosure 3 to the letter dated December 29, 1988. The letter should have indicated that Enclosure 3 was included instead of stating that the information would be provided by January 6, 1989. Accordingly the information provided as Enclosure 3 to the December 29, 1988 letter is valid. Therefore, this letter documents and confirms your receipt of the confirmatory load tests information and corrects the letter sent to you on December 29, 1988.
