Mr. R. H. Engelken, Director Docket No. 50-206 San Onofre Unit 1 By letter dated August 10, 1979, we submitted our initial response to IE Bulletin 79-14, "Seismic Analyses for As-Built Safety-Related Piping Systems."
The response identified (1) the piping systems or portions thereof which are considered safety-related, (2) the piping systems or portions thereof for which seismic analysis design documents have been located, and (3) the piping systems or portions thereof which are accessible and inaccessible during reactor oDeration. We also stated that a list of design documents, including the inspection elements to be used to verify that the seismic analysis input information conforms to the actual con figuration of the safety-related piping systems would be submitted by August 31, 1979.
The purpose of this letter is to advise you that addi tional time is required to complete the compilation of design documents and inspection elements.
It is expected that this information will be submitted by September 10, 1979.
Because of the extent of the work effort required by the Bulletin, the additional time will also allow us to prepare a verification/
inspection, implementation program to (1) assure a consistent, systematic approach to accomplishing the verification/inspection, (2) facilitate the identification and appropriate disposition of any nonconformances in a timely manner, and (3) provide a historical record of activities and results. The schedule for completing the inspections required by Items 2 and 3 of the Bulletin remain as identified in our August 10, 1979 letter.
If you have any questions, or desire additional information concerning this matter, please contact me.
Very truly yours, cc:
Director, Office of Inspection and Enforcement
