Information Request Regarding Station Blackout Unresolved Safety Issue A-44 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1.
By letter dated July 9, 1981 you requested some additional information regarding Unresolved Safety Issue (USI1 A-44, Station Blackout. The requested information would support the effort directed toward determining the reliability of the onsite standby diesel generators. It was requested that our response be provided within 90 days of receipt of your letter or, if this schedule could not be met, our proposed date of response was requested within 30 days.
In view of the considerable effort which will be necessary to compile the diesel generator operation, maintenance, and modification records which were requested, and due to the manpower requirements associated with our existing outage for repair of the diesel generators, we will not be able to comply with your -requested submittal date. It is expected that the information can be provided by December 15, 1981.
We hope that this date will support the schedule for completing your analysis of the data by February 1982 as planned.
