SEP Topic 111-6, Seismic Design Considerations San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 On December 5, 1980, we met with members of the NRC Staff to discuss our program for the seismic reevaluation of structures at San Onofre Unit 1.

During that meeting, our approach, methods and criteria for this program.were detailed. The purpose of this letter is to document the information..presented during that meeting. It should be noted that submittal of this information has been delayed pending an opportunity to review the NRC's "SSRT Guidelines For SEP Soil-Structure Interaction Review." A copy of this document was received on January 9, 1981 and has been considered in the preparation of the enclosed criteria document.

Provided as an enclosure to this letter is a document entitled, "Balance of Plant Structures Seismic Reevaluation Criteria" dated February 17, 1981.

This document provides a detailed description of the methodology and criteria to be used in the seismic reevaluation of each of the balance of plant structures (BOPS) included in the program. Additionally, a brief description of each of the structures is provided.

If you have any questions or comments on this information, please contact us as soon as possible.

Very truly yours, Enclosure P
