Docket No. 50-206 Turbine Disc Integrity San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 Your letter of February 25, 1980, requested Southern California Edison (SCE) provide certain information to the NRC concerning low pressure turbine disc integrity. SCE's letter of March 18, 1980 provided that information.
The purpose of this letter is to provide a revision to that information.
Specifically, the calculated operating stresses (Section E of the attached tables) have been revised to include thermal and pressure drop stresses.
These higher operating stresses result in lower values for the critical crack sizes (Section F of the attached tables).
However, as a result of the disc inspection performed during the Spring of 1980, it was determined that there are no cracks in the San Onofre Unit 1 low pressure turbine discs (Section H of the attached tables).
Therefore, the smaller critical crack sizes have no effect on disc integrity at San Onofre Unit 1.
Appendix A of this letter contains proprietary information of the Westinghouse Electric Corporation. In conformance with the requirements of 10CFR Section 2.790, as amended, of the Commission's regulations, it is requested that this information be withheld from public disclosure. An application for withholding and an affidavit was included in the SCE's March 18, 1980 submittal. Correspondence with respect to the affidavit or application for withholding should reference AW-80-4 and should be addressed to Mr. R.
