Dear Sir:
Southern California Edison Company is requesting a revision to the route for shipping spent fuel from the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, San Clemente California to the General Electric storage facility, Morris Illinois as approved in your letter of February 28, 1980.
The purpose of the revision is to avoid the newly designated heavily populated area of Springfield, Illinois noticed in your letter to Edis6n dated July 7, 1980.
In an ef ort to expedite this request, we have been working with 'Mr. Hillman of your office and Tri-State Motor Company to find a satisfactory route. Two possible routes have been defined. The preferred change would revise the approved route through Missouri and Illinois as given on page 12 as follows:

1-229 East to 1-29
- 28.
1-29 North to US-36
- 29.
US-36 East to US-61
- 30.
US-61 North to 1-136

- 33.
1-55 North to Lorenzo Road
- 34.
Lorenzo Road to G. E. Morris Facility If this change is not satisfactory the following alternate route is submitted for your review:
