SUBJECT: MANAGEMENT MEETING
This refers to the management meeting held between Southern California Edison
Company (SCE) and Region V management at the San Onofre Nuclear Generating
Station on October 9, 1992. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Unit 1
permanent shutdown planning, the SCE Business Plan, recent engineering and
maintenance issues, the interface between organizations (i.e., Station
Technical, Operations, and Maintenance) to resolve emerging issues,
Omaintenance, and other topics of mutual interest. Details of the meeting are
described in the enclosed Meeting Report.
Overall we found the meeting to be beneficial.
We recognize the efforts you
have taken to improve the engineering response to emerging issues and to
improve the interface between organizations. We encourage you to continue
your efforts in these areas.
We are interested in further discussing details related to the planning of the
permanent shutdown of Unit 1. We will be contacting you to establish a
meeting date in the near future.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790(a), a copy of this letter and the
enclosed report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
