Subject:
Docket No. 50-206 Supplement 1 to Amendment Application No. 202 Extension to Steam Generator Inspection Interval San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1
Reference:
Letter, Harold B. Ray, SCE, to U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, "Amendment Application No. 202, Extension to Steam Generator Inspection Interval," April 6, 1992 This letter forwards Supplement 1 to Amendment Application No. 202 to Facility Operating License No. DPR-13 for San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1 (SONGS 1).
Amendment Application No. 202 (see reference) requested a 4-month extension to the maximum steam generator inspection interval from 24 calendar months as required by Technical Specification 4.16.C.1 to 28 calendar months.
The enclosed supplement provides the Technical Specification page (page no.
4.16-2) reflecting the extended interval.
This page had not been included in our April 6, 1992 amendment application.
The enclosed Technical Specification page incorporates a footnote stating that the 28-month interval between steam generator inspections is authorized for the inspection interval ending in 1992. This change is editorial in nature, and has no impact on the safety evaluation performed as a part of the referenced amendment application. The safety and significant hazards determination and other conclusions reached in the referenced amendment application remain valid.
We look forward to the NRC's expedited approval of our referenced amendment application so that SONGS 1 will not have to be shutdown in September 1992 to perform the steam generator inspection (as required currently), and that the 9208260206 920824 PDR AD%CK 05000206 P
