Letter, M. 0. Medford, SCE, to G. E. Lear, NRC, Requests for Additional Information, May 1, 1986 The referenced letter provided responses to NRC questions regarding SCE's documentation of the November 21, 1985 Water Hammer Event. The response to Question No. 19 in Enclosure 3 to the referenced letter indicated that SCE would provide a report documenting the results of SCE's detailed evaluation of the mechanism of failure of the 4160 V cable that caused the November 21, 1985 event and the expected material condition of the remaining cable.
Accordingly, enclosed is a report entitled "Investigation of the November, 1985 In-Service Cable Failure and Report on the Material Condition of Cables, San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1."
The enclosed report also identifies recommended actions that have been or will be implemented at San Onofre Unit 1 as delineated in Section 9.0 and 10.0 of the report.
