Southern California Edison Company P. 0. BOX 800 2244 WALNUT GROVE AVENUE ROSEMEAD. CALIFORNIA 91770 M.O.MEDFORD TELEPHONE MANAGER, NUCLEAR LICENSING June 25, 1985 (818) 302-1749 Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention:
Mr. Hugh L. Thompson, Jr., Director Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D.C.
20555 Gentlemen:
Subject:
Docket Nos. 50-206, 50-361 and 50-362 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Units 1, 2 and 3 The purpose of this letter is to provide our response to Generic Letter 85-07, Implementation of Integrated Schedules for Plant Modifications.
Our responses for San Onofre Unit 1 and San Onofre Units 2 and 3 are provided as Enclosures 1 and 2, respectively. San Onofre Unit 1 has implemented an ILS based upon the Westinghouse Analytical Ranking Process.
The ILS was originally developed in 1983 with followup submittals to NRC. A license condition application to place the ILS in effect was submitted to NRC in 1984. A revision to the ILS will be submitted in the near future. NRC approval of the ILS will establish the ILS as a central tool in SONGS 1 outage planning. Southern California Edison is purchasing the Westinghouse computer software to permit SCE to update the ILS. It is our intention to utilize this software to develop an ILS for San Onofre Units 2 and 3. Thus, the mechanism to develop and implement an ILS will be available when needed to support SCE's implementation of future NRC mandated changes.
It is anticipated that the software will be available for SCE use in the third quarter of 1985. SCE will decide whether to submit a license condition implementing an ILS for San Onofre 2 and 3 after application of the Westinghouse software to the project.
If you have any further questions, please contact us.
Very truly yours, 8506270224 850625 PDR ADOCK 05000206 P
