Letter, D. M. Crutchfield, NRC, to K. P. Baskin, SCE, dated April 17, 1984 The purpose of this letter is to submit the proposed program and schedule for repairing the spent fuel racks in accordance with the referenced letter. The repair is currently scheduled for completion by November 15, 1985. Although the completion date could be subject to change, the repair will be completed prior to the movement of fuel during the next refueling outage scheduled to begin November 30, 1985.
The spent fuel rack repair will consist of installing two new struts adjacent to the existing damaged struts and connecting them to the existing rack framing. The rack repair will return the spent fuel rack to the original "fully-loaded" condition in accordance with the seismic criteria of the San Onofre Unit 1 FSA, Section 9.2.
The spent fuel pit liner will also be inspected for any damage.
