Docket Nos. 50-206, 50-361 and 50-362 Followup Report, Inoperable Fire Doors - December 1989 San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1, 2 and 3 The purpose of this letter is to provide a follow-up report for Technical Specification (TS) fire-rated assemblies (specifically fire doors) found inoperable during routine surveillances in December 1989. This monthly report and previous monthly reports provide updated information associated with the initial 1983 report for Units 2 and 3. Unit 1 fire doors found inoperable during routine surveillances are now included in this report following implementation, in December 1989, of Amendment 131 to Provisional Operating License No. DPR-13 The enclosed report identifies: a) 2 latching mechanism failures and 1 closure mechanism failure for Unit 1 and, b) 19 latching mechanism failures and 14 closure mechanism failures for Units 2 and 3. As each of these deficiencies was identified, compensatory fire watches were established pursuant to TS 3.14.7, Action "A" for Unit 1 and TS 3.7.9, Action "a" for Units 2 and 3. No doors were found to be blocked open in December.
