San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 In accordance with a telephone discussion between Charles M. Trammell, Senior Project Manager, Project Directorate V, USNRC and the undersigned, this letter formally advises you of the reason that has delayed SCE's response to Generic Letter (GL)
No.
89-04 regarding inservice testing of pumps and valves and requests an extension of the due date for our response.
As required by GL 89-04, the inservice testing program for pumps and valves has been reviewed and revised in light of the guidance provided in the generic letter. A draft response to the generic letter has been prepared. However, in view of the broad scope of the generic letter and SCE's ongoing efforts to improve the quality of our submittals, we are performing a very detailed review of the draft response.
To permit the detailed review to be completed, we request that the time allotted by the generic letter for the response be extended to November 30, 1989.
